A Design Icon

Today, Finn Juhl’s Chieftain Chair is regarded by many as the most important Danish Modern icon, yet there is surprisingly little information available about the design. The purpose of this website is to serve as a comprehensive resource based on credible literary sources, museum archives, firsthand accounts from people connected to the production of the chair, and discussions with knowledgeable enthusiasts from around the globe. The findings of this webpage will change as more data is accumulated over time. The aim is to present a clear and factually based narrative from the chair’s birth in 1949 up to present day.
